Biggest stars? Check.

Everything is in order for the FVP Outlaws at Elko – the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series inaugural event at Elko Speedway on Friday, May 10 – to be a premier show.

“It’s close to the metro area, so a lot of fans that don’t get to watch a World of Outlaws show now have that opportunity,” Craig Dollansky said. “It should be a great show.”

Located approximately a half hour south of Minneapolis, Elko Speedway is close to one of the biggest cities the top sprint car series will race near all season. Just as important as the location is the venue of the event.

For the first time since the famed 2000-01 races at Bristol Motor Speedway, a temporary surface will cover a paved track for a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event. While it is a unique situation for the drivers, Elko Speedway is used to hosting races on dirt and pavement.

“We’ve had nothing but success on dirt,” track owner Tom Ryan said. “It really, truly is a progressive banking. For sprint cars, there are three full grooves all around the track. They can run low. They can run high. They can run a diamond pattern. We see it all.”
