No Easter joy

There certainly wasn’t a lot of joy for Danny Reidy and the Reidy Racing team throughout the Easter Long Weekend, but they managed to fight on and ended up seventh overall in the Tri–City Shootout Sprintcar Series point standings.

After a trouble free opening round of the Tri–City Shootout Series at Maryborough Speedway on Friday night, where he finished fifth in the feature race after qualifying fifth in time trials and finishing seventh in his heat race during the rain affected night, Reidy was in the wars throughout the second round on the Saturday night at Archerfield Speedway.

“Everything that could’ve gone wrong on the second night actually did, but we fought on as a team and got through it,” explained Reidy. “We lunched an engine during engine starts at the beginning of the night, then had to replace engines and just made it out for time trials and set the fifth fastest lap, then in our opening heat race I rolled over heavily after being involved in someone else’s accident, then the team had to completely rebuild the car in time for the second heat race, we made it out for the second heat race and finished in second, then ran seventh in the pole shootout, and finished the night seventh in the feature race.”

Considering all that the Reidy Racing team, which consists of Sean, Ben and Beau, had to go through on the night, to finish the feature race in the second round inside the top 10 was an achievement.

“We certainly had our hands full all night, but my team never stopped trying,” the NQ # 5 Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs supported J&J driver said. “I can’t thank the boys enough for all of their efforts.”

The third and final round of the Tri-City Shootout Series at Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba on Sunday night was cancelled, due to the wet weather.

Reidy has this weekend off, and he returns to the track on Saturday night, April 13 at Archerfield Speedway for the latest round of the KRE Sprintcar Series. Currently, Reidy sits inside the top five of the point standings.

The Reidy Racing team would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all of their 2012–13 season support.
