MYERSTOWN, Pa. (Nov. 25, 2013) – This year has been a monumental one for Brent Marks.

Marks, who recently kicked off his offseason by getting married, is coming off his best career season with five feature victories, 22 top fives and 57 top-10 finishes.

“It definitely was a career-best season,” he said. “We had five wins and a lot of consistency. I probably would rate it a B minus. There’s still room for improvement. I think we’re so close to being perfect. Once we get some things dwindled down and some setups at different tracks, we’ll be really, really good.”

In addition to setting a new standard for wins, top fives and top 10s in a season, Marks also finished a career-best third in the championship standings at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. He also ranked sixth in the points at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., despite missing more than a quarter of the season.

While he recorded three wins at Lincoln Speedway and one at Williams Grove Speedway, Marks said his biggest victory was at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa., during the Ray Tilley Classic on May 26.

“The highlight win for me was Selinsgrove,” he said. “I’ve run at Selinsgrove on the infield track in go-karts and I’ve never had good luck there. I just never could do anything. That win felt great. I’d been trying to win at that track for so long. It was definitely a great accomplishment for me.”

Marks also earned his first four top 10s with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and he competed at the famed Knoxville Nationals for the first time in his career. Marks expects to continue to test himself against the best competition with approximately two dozen World of Outlaws races next season as well as a return to the Knoxville Nationals.

“We’re going to try to do a little more traveling,” he said. “I have 23 Outlaws races scheduled. We’re going to have to sacrifice a few races around Pennsylvania in order to race those races. We want to branch out and try to create the best opportunity for the future to one day turn this into a full-time gig. The only thing we’re missing to hit the road more is a sponsor for diesel. If we could get that help I feel confident that we will be able to continue putting up great results and competing for wins anywhere.”

Marks was also complimentary of his team and all of the partners who have helped his program reach new heights this past season.

“We have continued to build and grow, which wouldn’t be possible without all of the great businesses and people who have come on board,” he said. “I want to thank them all for the support this past season and I can’t wait to take this momentum into next season.”
