Eating Around Knoxville, Red Ribbon Bakery

With the workload at the Knoxville Nationals there are times when I don’t leave the Marion County Fairgrounds during the week. This year we decided to venture out and try heading to the square for lunch at the Red Ribbon Bakery.

The Red Ribbon is a breakfast and lunch restaurant closing at 2:00 p.m. every day with a plethora of sweet treats made right on sight. The part we enjoyed the most though was the sandwiches. Mudclodbob had a New Yorker that was essentially a Ruben while I opted for the “Redneck Taco” that had a cornbread pancake with pulled pork and coleslaw on top. I also sampled a chocolate chip cookie that was very good. The shop owner explained to us their sandwich specials normally run a week

The staff was courteous and attentive with the shop owner working side by side with her staff checking on customers and making sure everyone was being attended to. Everything on the menu was reasonably priced for the quality of the product. The shop itself was very clean and well kept.

It would be easy to overlook this small treasure on the square in Knoxville, but the product is worth getting up earlier than most would during the Nationals for a great breakfast or lunch treat.

The Red Ribbon Bakery is located at 112 N 2nd St, Knoxville, IA 50138. If you are interested in more information visit https://www.facebook.com/rrbakery
