ABBOTTSTOWN, PA — Lincoln officials had hoped waiting one more day would melt the snow-covered parking lots enough to provide racing fans a safe area to come-to and leave for the anticipated season-opening races at the Pigeon Hills oval.
But after surveying the parking area around noon on Saturday realized it just would not be safe for the multitude of fans and teams that would be converging on the parking area and made the hard decision to cancel Sunday’s March 7th opener until next week, Saturday, March 13th,. to open the gates on the 2010 racing season.
The 410 Sprints will run the traditional season-opening Ice Breaker 30 next Saturday and be joined by the originally scheduled 358 Sprints for the 2 PM show. Gates will open at noon.
If needed, the following day, Sunday, March 14th will be used as a rain date.
That will push the season-opening Thundercar “Spring Thaw 20” until the following week, March 20th, as they were originally scheduled to appeared. The March 20th show will also feature the 410 Sprints and the 358 Late Models and be switching to 6 PM starts.
