From IMS
INDIANAPOLIS, Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 – A variety of race cars and pace cars from events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be released for the exciting Facebook game “Car Town.”
“Car Town” is a social game created by Cie Games in which players collect and customize virtual cars, build their dream garage and help their friends do the same. It’s the only game on Facebook built around licensed automotive brands.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the first major motorsports facility featured in “Car Town” game on Facebook, the leading social network with more than 500 million users worldwide.
“We’re very excited for the rollout of IMS assets in ‘Car Town,’” said Jeff Belskus, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation president and chief executive officer. “Popular Facebook games attract tens of millions of players every month, so the possibilities are limitless for creating tremendous worldwide exposure for our brand in such an exciting, essential virtual medium.”
Said Justin Choi, president and CEO of Cie Games: “Car Town makes car and motorsports culture accessible to enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike by making it fun and engaging. The game gives players a way to interact with the Indy brand on a platform that they access every day, rather than waiting for race weekend. Indy’s involvement will be a treat for our audience and we’re excited to have them involved. We have millions of active players worldwide, from all age groups, including parents playing Car Town with their kids every day.”
The 2010 Indianapolis 500 Chevrolet Camaro SS Pace Car and the 2010 Brickyard 400 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car will be the first IMS-related vehicles available to “Car Town” players, with release scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 26. Also available that day will be IMS, Indianapolis 500 and IZOD IndyCar Series posters featuring real-life images and logos that “Car Town” players can display in their virtual garages.
Also scheduled for future release on a regular basis are Indianapolis 500 race cars and other IMS assets.
