Port Royal Keystone Cup Is May 26

Port Royal – After a regular program of Aumiller Insurance 410 sprints, AB Auto Glass late models, 305 sprints and an enduro dash on May 21, Port Royal Speedway will host the 5th annual Keystone Cup series for sprint cars on Thursday, May 26.

Aboard the Lisi Shell No. 11, Elizabethville’s Mike Erdley is the defending event winner at the speedway.

The series began in 2007 when Stevie Smith won the Port Royal event. Fred Rahmer followed suit with a win in 2008 followed by Greg Hodnett in 2009.

Series titles along the way have been taken by Rahmer in 2007 and 2008 followed by Smith in 2009. Oklahoma native Daryn Pittman is the defending Keystone Cup series titlist.

Nobody has more wins in the Keystone Cup series than Stevie Smith and Daryn Pittman as the pair sits atop the leader board with four victories each.

Two-time winners include Hodnett, Brian Leppo and Lucas Wolfe. Single wins have gone to Cody Darrah, Erdley, Danny Lasoski, Rahmer, Jeff Shepard, Mark Smith and Tyler Walker.

The Thursday, May 26 Port Royal Keystone Cup feature will be 30 laps in distance for $5,000 to win.

Gates open at 5 PM with pro stocks also on the midweek card. Adult General Admission is $20.00 with students ages 12 – 17 admitted for just $10.00.

The speedway comes right back on Saturday, May 28 with A Salute To The Military, honoring members of the armed services both past and present.

Adult General Admission for the night has been lowered to $14.00 with a $2.00 discount being afforded to any past or present members of the military who provide military identification or who come to the races in uniform.

On tap May 28 will be the second appearance of the season by the 358 sprints along with AB Auto Glass late models, 305 sprints and an enduro dash. Pat Cannon won the first show of the year for 358s in March.
