“RED, WHEAT & BLEU” TASTING RECEPTION ON WEDNESDAY OF KNOXVILLE NATIONALS

By Bob Baker

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 6, 2011) – Knoxville’s own Peace Tree Brewing Company, the Corning Winery, Covered Bridges Winery of Winterset, and Indianola’s Summerset Winery are all set for the second annual “Red, Wheat & Bleu” wine-, beer- and cheese-tasting special reception to be held on Wednesday, August 10, at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum during the 51st annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals. The reception is open to museum visitors on the first day of the four-day sprint car national championships from 12:30 until 3:30 p.m. and it will be held on the museum’s air-conditioned second floor.

According to reception coordinator Tom Schmeh today, “Last year was our first year for the event and it went very well. Fans really enjoyed sampling the wines and cheeses, while National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductees Kenny Jacobs of Ohio and Jimmy Sills of California were even spotted taking some of the local products home with them. We are very pleased to welcoming the Summerset Winery, the Corning Winery, the Covered Bridges Winery and the Peace Tree Brewing Company back for this unique event. Where else but at Knoxville Raceway and the legendary Calistoga Speedway in the Napa Valley of California can you mix wine-tasting and sprint car racing?”
