“SPRING TRAINING SPECTACULAR” ON TAP AS MOPAR .25 “GENERATION NEXT” TOUR DEBUTS AT PHOENIX

USAC’s 2012 Mopar .25 “Generation Next” Tour kicks off this weekend with the Spring Training Spectacular” at the Valley of the Sun oval southwest of Phoenix, Ariz.

One driver who will be competing in the event will be Arizona native Logan Heath, who will be racing in two divisions and was finishing work on his race cars with his father over the weekend.

“We are putting motors back in the cars,” said the young driver. “We raced at Phoenix, Albuquerque, Orange Show and Indy last year. For this year we are going to San Antonio and Nashville too.”

Practice takes place Friday afternoon from 5-8 pm, following Thursday’s trailer parking at 3 pm. Heats, Lower Mains and A-mains are set for Saturday, starting at 9 am. Sunday will be used as a rain date. Pre Registration for Rd #1 closes tonight at midnight.

Victory Lane ceremonies follow the A-Mains, with the top-three finishers in each class receiving awards. Participation awards are also scheduled for Rookie classes.

“We’re all excited to kick off the 2012 “Generation Next” campaign,” says USAC’s James Spink. “The 15-race schedule is our most ambitious yet, with events in Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, New Mexico, California, Ohio, Maryland, Connecticut, North Carolina and Michigan.”

Defending champions of the USAC “Generation Next” Mopar .25 Midget Series include: Harrison Burton, Tyler Clem, Bryant Dawson, Michael Fanelli, Carson Hocevar, Jared Irvan, Garrett Jones, Ryan Krachun, Mark Miller, Wil Raber, Katlyn Stanley and Gage Walker.
