(May 9, 2012) London, Ontario: Ryan Litt has had Saturday, May 12 circled on his calendar ever since the 2012 Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints series schedule was released. That date will open a new chapter in Ryan’s racing career, as the new driver of the T&T Promotions #42 Sprint Car.
Saturday’s season opening event will be at Baer Field Speedway, located next to the Fort Wayne International Airport a few miles south of the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The race is a co-sanctioned event between the Michigan-based AVSS, and Indiana-based Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series (HOSS), and should feature a very competitive field.
“I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel at Baer Field,” says Ryan. “I have been itching to race for a while now. It has been a long off season.”
Ryan is excited to compete in the first race with his new team which includes hall of fame crew chief Butch Dowker, but they will also be racing with heavy hearts due to the passing of Christen “Tiny” Sherwood – one of the team’s owners – on April 18. They’ll be shooting for a win in his honour this weekend.
“I’m hoping everything meshes well and we can put the car in victory lane,” says Ryan. “There is no reason we can’t do that. The car is top notch, and the guys working on it are top notch, so as long as I do my part we should be good.”
Joining a new team means joining forces with new sponsors as well. Ryan is happy to have BS&B Radiator, Linton Media, Linde Gases, Xtreme Metal Worx, Leaf Racewear, Shell Shock Lids, Dowker Engines, Sweet Manufacturing, Hoosier Racing Tire, and Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oils on board for the 2012 season.
“I have to thank everyone who has helped me this year,” says Ryan. “I couldn’t be doing this without my family, and all of my returning sponsors, along with the new ones we picked up.”
