DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 12, 2012) – Upon the cusp of the midpoint of 2012 racing season, yet another big event is on tap at the Dodge City Raceway Park 3/8-mile clay oval later this month.
Dodge City Days kicks off with special Friday night racing card at Dodge City Raceway Park on July 27 featuring the URSS 305-ci Sprint Cars and a $1,000-to-win feature event for the IMCA Modifieds.
In action along with the URSS Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds will be the balance of the track’s regular championship classes including the United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Cars and Hornets.
The July 27 event marks the first appearance of the year for the United Rebel Sprint Series at DCRP. Dodge City’s Brian Herbert is currently tied with Jeff Radcliffe for the Kansas portion of the series points lead with Ray Seeman, Zach Blurton and Lance Davis filling out the current top five.
After capturing his third win of the year at DCRP during this past weekend’s Fan Appreciation Night, Ponca City, Oklahoma’s Brendon Gemmill has moved back atop the IMCA Modified track championship point charts with a 10-point advantage over Woodward, Oklahoma’s Cole Traugott. Beau Davis, Kevin Gray and Casey Jo Wanger round out the current top five in points.
Bart Baker is atop points in the United Wireless IMCA Sport Modified class that has offered up five different winners in as many events, Perry Misner leads the way in the IMCA Stock Cars, Dan Rogers holds the top spot in the Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Cars and Jarrett Lunow has moved into the Hornet lead.
The Friday night, July 27, Dodge City Days event at Dodge City Raceway Park gets under way at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the event are just $15 for adults. Seniors and Military receive a $5 discount, with children 11 and under admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.
Dodge City Raceway Park presents 16 nights of racing over a dozen different weekends in 2012. In addition to the five regularly featured classes of competition, special events over the course of the year will include World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, USAC Midgets, USAC Sprint Cars, ASCS National Tour, NCRA Sprint Cars, URSS 305 Sprints and BST Modifieds.
