“JOHN JEWETT MEMORIAL BILLETT CUP” SATURDAY AT SANTA MARIA

USAC West Coast 360's

This Saturday’s “John Jewett Memorial Billett Cup” race at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway is a “special event” for USAC’s West Coast Sprint Cars, meaning no series points are being awarded.

Bud Kaeding continues to lead the series standings and last Saturday’s “Brawl For It All” at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. did nothing to change his 125-point edge over Ryan Bernal, since it also was a “special event” and offered no series points.

Charles Davis Jr. of Buckeye, Ariz. won the Peoria race, outduelling Bernal in the closing laps for the win. The 30-lap race featured five lead changes among three drivers and Davis led the final three circuits for the win over Bernal, R.J. Johnson, Rick Ziehl and Danny Sheridan. Brian Hosford led the first two laps, Davis led the next 12, Bernal took over for six and Davis led five. On lap 26 Bernal returned to the top spot, but two laps later he yielded it to Davis.

The West Coast Sprint Car Series point race concludes October 13 at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif.
