Though the final result on the scorer’s sheet is not what they had hoped for, Jayme Barnes and his Destiny Motorsports team is very pleased with their overall night at the Spring Nationals in Attica, OH on Saturday night.

“We had a ton of speed, and overall we were much better than we were in Florida in February,” Barnes said.

The night kicked off with Barnes timing his Mondak Portables/Rick Rogers Construction/Eagle Motorsports No.9B in with the 14th quickest lap, a huge improvement from past time trial shows.

“Our equipment had been at Scott Benic’s shop for the last month, and he went through everything, and really made some improvements,” he said.

Starting third in his heat, Barnes made a brilliant move when the green flag dropped, and went on to pick up an impressive heat race win aboard his Speedmart/Wesmar/Driver Websites backed entry, and earned a spot in the feature.

Starting in the 14th spot, Barnes worked around the ultra slick track, trying to find traction, as laps clicked off.

Hanging around the 15th spot, as the race drew to a close, Barnes got spun around on the 29th lap in traffic, and ultimately ended up in the 23rd spot.

“We had a really good, car and it is unfortunate that we kind of got taken out there at the end for no reason, really,” he said. “I have to thank Scott Benic, Rick Rogers, and everyone that helps us out. It’s nice to get back in the seat again.”

Jayme and his team would like to thank Mondak Portables, Rick Rogers Construction, Eagle Motorsports, Speedmart, Wesmar Racing Engines, Driver Websites, and Benic Enterprises for their support through the 2013 season.
