Making his first start in his Steven Tiner Racing No. 94, Steven Tiner had a late race issue on Saturday night, and was credited with a 15th place finish.
Taking part in the California Civil War Series Race at the Petaluma Speedway, Tiner timed his BR Motorsports/King Racing Products/Elma Lanes entry in 16th fastest during qualifications.
Lining up third in his heat, Tiner, quickly got up to second aboard his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process/Harvest Supply entry, but a vibration in his engine, forced him to stop on the front stretch, and head to work area.
Fearing for the worst, Tiner’s team found a broken plug wire, and rushed to fix it, to get him back on the track.
Working his way back up to fifth, Tiner just missed out on the transfer spot and lined up seventh in the B main.
Jumping up into the fifth spot, Tiner would finish fifth in the B, and transfer to the A, where he would start in the last row.
On the ultra tough track, Tiner worked the bottom as he hoped to gain spots by guys in front of him getting out of line, on the super fast track.
Running near the tail end of the field, contact with the leader, flattened Tiner’s left rear tire, but he was able to keep it under firs, as he limped home to a 15th place finish.
“It was not the best night for us, but that tends to happen the first night out in a new car,” Tiner said. “Our car was decent, and our engine ran well, so that is something to look forward to.”
Stever and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Elma Lanes, Larry Davis Farms, Wright Processing Systems, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, Dan Olson Race Prodcuts, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Good Ridge, Schoenfeld, Western Metal Company, and Roseville Precision for their support in 2013.
