Kansas City, KS — (May 22, 2013) — Sammy Swindell is flat out good at Lakeside Speedway.
Swindell is the defending World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series winner of the event and is the only driver to claim an Outlaws victory on both dirt and pavement at the semi-banked track, which hosts the premier sprint car series for the FVP Outlaws at Lakeside on Saturday, June 8.
“It’s a track that seems to change quite a bit,” Swindell said. “It’s all about keeping the corner speed up. That’s what I do a little better maybe.”
Swindell charged from fifth to lead the final 24 laps of last season’s FVP Outlaws at Lakeside. It added to his impressive résumé, which includes a win in the two World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series races on pavement at Lakeside Speedway.
“It’s been good, even when it was paved,” he said. “The pavement was pretty fun because it was really fast. It kinda separated the cars there a little bit.”
Steve Kinser, a 20-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion and the winningest driver in series history, is tied with Swindell for the series lead with three feature victories at Lakeside Speedway.
Kinser claimed the 2001 event and won back-to-back in 2010-11.
Daryn Pittman, the current championship points leader, was victorious in 2003 and Mark Kinser earned a victory in 2002.
