Pair of Civil War Top Ten’s For Tiner

Back on the West Coast after a weekend in West Memphis, AR, Steven Tiner was in action with the California Civil War Series, and overcame a bit of adversity to tally a pair of top 10’s at the Marysville Raceway Park and the Silver Dollar Speedway.

To open the weekend up, Tiner timed his BR Motorsports/King Racing Products/Elma Lanes No.94 machine in fifth fastest at the Marysville Raceway Park.

On a very slick and technical track, passing was at a premium during heat races, and as Tiner tried to get into a transfer spot, he lost the handle to his Wright Process Systems/Larry Davis Farms/Harvest Supply machine, and contact was made to both the front end, and rear-end and his heat was over, and he was forced into the B main.

Starting in the third spot in the semi, Tiner followed Mason Moore, who got a great jump, and moved into the second spot on the track that continued to be challenging.

A second place finish in the ‘B’, put Tiner in the fifth row of the feature event.

When the race got underway, Tiner got stuck up on the top-side of the racetrack, as he got freight trained by the field using the bottom of the speedway.

Once he settled into position in the 16th spot, Tiner found something just one lane off the bottom, and was able to make some swift moves as he worked back inside the top 10.

Navigating heavy traffic, Tiner was able to sneak his way up to the sixth spot, when the dust settled on the 30-lap dog-fight.

Heading to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Sunday night, a late qualifying draw hurt Tiner severely as he timed in 21st quickest.

Starting on the front row of his heat, Tiner took car of business and won the race, putting him in the feature event, where he would roll off for the 30-lap event in the eighth row.

On the very slick, but racy track, Tiner was able to carve his way forward inside the top-10 when the checkered flew, as he scored a ninth place finish.

“It was an up and down weekend for sure,” Tiner said. “We tore up some stuff at Marysville on Saturday night, but my guys did a great job of getting it back together, and on Sunday a late qualifying draw really put us behind the eight-ball all night. We will take the two top-10’s and look forward to next weekend.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Elma Lanes, Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, Dan Olson Race Prodcuts, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Good Ridge, Schoenfeld, Western Metal Company, and Roseville Precision for their support in 2013.
