Hitting the track that had recently be overtaken by a clay surface from it’s original asphalt, Mitchell was in action with the United Racing Association and timed in eighth quickest.

Lining up in the second row of his heat, Mitchell made quick work of the lead pack, and he stormed into the lead, and picked up the heat race win.

Starting eighth in the feature on the very racy, and slick track, contact on the intial start had Mitchell back to the 10th spot.

Navigating through dense traffic, Mitchell worked the low side of the speedway as he got back up into the sixth spot.

Chasing after the lead pack that was continuing to swap positions, trouble broke out in front of Mitchell, as he was collected with a spinning car in front of him.

With very minimal damage to Mitchell’s entry, the Yorba Linda, CA driver restarted from the tail end of the field, and put on quite the show for the large crowd.

Fighting was became a very loose racecar, Mitchell was able to wrestle it all the way back up to the eighth spot when the dust settled.

“We were decent early in the feature, but unfortunately we got caught up with a spinning car,” he said. “We went to the back and hand our hands full, as the track really went away and the car was really loose. I was able to make some stuff happen and we escaped with an eighth place finish.”
