Following a third place finish at the last race in Lake Odessa, Mich., Joey Saldana and the Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M team are eager to get back on the dirt.

“Kokomo is a small quarter-mile track,” said Saldana, “and there are always cars around you.  The goal is to stay out of trouble and keep the car away from damage that can hinder your performance.”

The STP Sprint Cars have raced here intermittently during recent years, and this event will mark the fifth time the Outlaws have set four tires in the dirt at Kokomo Speedway since 2005.

Saldana was the 2007 race winner.

“We have had a bit of a rollercoaster ride this season,” confided the Brownsburg Bullet.  “But with 90 races everybody has their ups and downs.  We are a new team but it’s a tribute to our veteran crew members and car owner Dan Motter, who has provided top notch equipment for us that our competitive performance has shown results and we have hovered in the top five in point standings for the majority of the season.

“We want to use our podium finish at I-96 in Michigan as a springboard for strong performances this week.

“This is a big adrenaline week for the 71M team!”

The Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M team has six top-five finishes, three quick times and two track records to its credit with about one third of this season in the record books.
