Taking last week off to regroup, and relax, Jonathan Allard and his Williams Motorsports team charged from the 13th spot, to score a fifth place finish at the inaugural David Tarter Memorial Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA.

“I would of loved nothing more than to win that race, but we got off to a sluggish start, and I think we rebounded well to end up with a fifth,” he said.

With 23 cars signed into the Silver Dollar Speedway, JA timed his infamous No.0 machine in 13th quickest, putting him on the front row of his heat.

Picking up the heat race win, Allard then found himself on the front row of the “Dash for Cash”, but Allard did not get the jump, and was unable to track down Sean Becker, and he settled for second.

With the dash having no baring on the starting order for the feature event, JA had his work cut out for him, as he lined up for the feature event in the seventh row.

On a track that was extremely greasy and wet early, it was starting to slowly come in for the feature, and JA was able to move his way forward, as the track began to widen out during the 35 lap feature.

Putting his car all over the track, Allard had the ‘hammer down’, as he worked forward inside the top-five with just laps remaining.

Hoping to salvage his night, and earn the hard charger award, JA’s charge from 13-fifth had him just miss out on that award, as he missed it by just one position.

“It was just one of those nights,” Allard said. “This was a great event, and some people worked very hard to add some extra money to the show, and it is just a bummer we were not in contention to win.”
