LaSalle, IL — (June 25, 2013) — LaSalle Speedway features side-by-side and wheel-to-wheel action, which is exactly the kind of excitement the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers are looking forward to when they compete at the quarter-mile oval on Friday.
It marks the first race at LaSalle Speedway for the premier sprint car series since 2010 and only the second in the past nine seasons around the bullring.
“It’s real tight, real small,” said Sammy Swindell, who won in 1996. “Track position is going to mean a lot there.”
Joey Saldana recorded the victory during the 2010 race when he outlasted Paul McMahan in a thriller.
“It’s definitely one of those tracks that you get after it,” Saldana said. “Lapped traffic plays a big part of it.”
While 20-time champion Steve Kinser is the only driver to earn multiple wins at LaSalle Speedway, his son, Kraig, is looking to become the eighth different winner in nine races.
“It’s the type of track I grew up on,” he said. “It’s just something that’s more familiar.”
