Steven Tiner was a busy man over the weekend as he was up north in Yreka, CA on Friday night, where he set a track record before getting crashed in the feature event, and at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, where he charged to a fifth place finish during the Mark Forni Classic.
Heading to the Siskiyou County Fair Race on Friday night, Steven Tiner was aboard his own STR No. 94, where he started things off on the right foot as he set a new track record in time trials.
Starting in the third row of his heat race, Tiner was on the wheel aboard his BR Motorsports/King Racing Products/Elma Lanes entry, as he charged from sixth to second, and earned a berth in the night’s Dash.
Starting in the fifth spot in the Dash, Tiner did not get off to the start he was looking for as he slipped back to the sixth spot, putting him in the third row for the feature event.
When the feature went green, Tiner worked his way up into the fourth spot, as the leaders were in heavy lapped traffic.
Trying to clear a slower car, the car spun in front of Tiner, and contact sent Tiner for a wild ride, ending his night, and tearing up a lot of equipment.
Thrashing through the night, and straightening parts of the frame, Tiner and his team were in action Saturday night against the Civil War Series in Placerville, CA.
A late draw worked out to Tiner’s advantage for time-trials, as he was sixth quickest.
Heat race action saw drivers work on a very heavy, fast track, and Tiner was unable to get into a transfer spot, like many of the other faster qualifiers, and found himself in the second row of the B main.
Working into the third spot, Tiner earned the transfer to the feature event, where he found himself back in the 14th spot for the $5K to win feature event.
On a very racy track, the Visalia, CA pilot was able to get his elbows up and fly through the field as he earned a fifth place finish.
“I have to thank my guys for working hard all weekend,” Tiner said. “We tore up some equipment on Friday night, and had our work cut out for us to get ready for Saturday, and we did, and were actually pretty good.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Elma Lanes, Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, Dan Olson Race Products, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Good Ridge, Schoenfeld, Western Metal Company, and Roseville Precision for their support in 2013.
2013 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-31, Wins-0, Top 5’s-16, Top 10’s-20
ON TAP: Tiner will be in action Friday night in the Western Metal No. 37 at the Ocean Speedway before heading back to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night in the STR No.37.
