Making a late decision to compete at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Steven Tiner put together a late charge to score a second place finish.
“We had a really good car, and really got rolling late in the feature,” Tiner said. “Congrats to Andy Forsberg on the win, and were a little disappointed with second, but that was a fun race.”
Timing in his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems No. 94 entry in 14th fastest, Tiner went on to score heat race win, and put his machine in the third row for the feature event.
Problems on the start of the race saw the outside pole sitter lose the handle, and on the second attempt at the start, Tiner slipped back to the fifth spot, as he chased after Willie Croft and Andy Forsberg.
As the track got more racy as the laps clicked off, Tiner hooked up in a dog-fight between Willie Croft and Andy Forsberg.
Moving into the fourth spot, Tiner came alive late in the race, as he was able to get past Andy Gregg for third, as he chased after Forsberg and Peterson.
With Forsberg moving to the lead on the 16th lap, Tiner pressured Peterson for the second spot.
Getting into the second spot with five laps remaining, Tiner closed in on Forsberg in lapped traffic, and was able to get alongside of him, as the laps clicked down, and as the checkered waived, Tiner settled for the second spot.
“The track got better and better as the race wore on, and really allowed for some great racing,” Tiner said. “I have to thank all of my guys for busting their buts on this car all night, and hopefully we can keep rolling like this.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Elma Lanes, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, Dan Olson Race Products, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Good Ridge, Schoenfeld, Western Metal Company, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
