Baughman and his Jason Johnson Racing team will compete on Friday at Boyd Raceway in Boyd and on Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite during the ASCS Lone Star Region weekend.

“The goal is to put a whole night together,” he said. “We’ve just got to put a whole night together from the time we pull into the gate until the A Main is over.”

Friday marks only the second visit to Boyd Raceway for Baughman, who made his debut last season.

“I’ve only been there once and we were really fast,” he said. “We had to transfer out of the B Main. Once we got out of the B we came from the back to work our way to the front. We had a pretty good cushion on the top. We jumped the cushion one time and it knocked the front axle out.”

Although he was unable to finish the race, Baughman enjoyed his first visit and is looking forward to his return.

“It’s a fun little racy track,” he said. “I like it. You could run two lanes there.”

The weekend concludes at a half-mile track where Baughman has competed multiple times, including twice earlier this season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“This year with the changes we’ve made I feel a lot more comfortable at Devil’s Bowl,” he said. “Devil’s Bowl is its own beast, especially in turn one. If you can’t get in turn one you won’t get off turn two well.”
