Selinsgrove, PA — (March 31, 2015) — Selinsgrove Speedway will present the 2015 season opener featuring 360 sprint cars, late models, pro stocks, and roadrunners at 6 p.m. this Saturday, April 4, providing Mother Nature releases her grip on the lingering wintry weather that has been plaguing the northeast this spring. Track gates will open at 4 p.m.

Prior to the start of Saturday’s racing program, kids are invited to participate in an Easter Egg candy scramble behind the covered grandstand.

The 2015 season marks the track’s 70th year celebration and 53rd consecutive season opener (the speedway shut down for a brief period from 1960-62).

Last year’s season opened March 23 with a 410 sprint car race that was won by Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove. The first regular show of 2014 was held April 12 in which TJ Stutts of Liverpool (360 sprint cars), Jeff Rine of Danville (late models), Brad Mitch of McClure (pro stocks), and Keith Bissinger of Orangeville (roadrunners) took regular season opening day checkered flags.

For the second year in a row, the Mach 1 Chassis 360 sprint cars will be the headline open wheel division. Weekly 25-lap features will pay $2,000 to win. Mark Smith of Sunbury, a six-time winner last season, is the defending sprint car champion.

Jeff’s Auto Body & Recycling Center returns as the title sponsor of the super late model division along with Bernheisel Race Components. A 25-lap late model main event will pay $1,500 to win again in 2015. Rine won six races and his 10th career track championship last season at the speedway.

A&A Auto Stores will sponsor both the pro stock and roadrunner divisions this year. Mitch won the opening day feature last year and his first career pro stock title. He will look to defend both when the division’s season gets underway this Saturday in the 15-lap feature.

Likewise, Bissinger won the opener and track title in the roadrunner division last season. Bissinger rounded out his third career championship season with eight feature wins. The roadrunner feature will be 12 laps in distance.

Adult general admission for a regular racing program at the track this year is just $12; students ages 12-17 are $9; and children 11 and under are always admitted FREE.

The Empire Super Sprint (ESS) Mach 1 Chassis Sprint Car Spring Fling Challenge will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 11, paying $3,000 to win. The late models and pro stocks will join the 360 sprint cars on the racing card.

Selinsgrove Raceway Park, the one-fifth mile track located inside of the half-mile oval, will present its first go kart racing program of the season at 7 p.m. this Friday, April 3.
