The twin feature-race format at the Archerfield Speedway 410 Sprintcar Track Championship Grand Final last Saturday night saw Danny Reidy finish with a fifth and a win, and it rewarded him a second-place finish overall.

Only a single point separated Reidy and winner Bryan Mann in the overall twin feature race points, but despite missing out on the overall win, he was pleased with how his night panned out.

“We had a pleasing night and it was good to finish with a win in the second feature race,” commented Reidy, who had won the opening feature race of last season’s corresponding race meeting.

“The night didn’t start too well, as we struggled to get good time trial lap in, but it was encouraging to be able to fight through the rest of the night and finish on a high.”

The NQ # 5 Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs supported Maxim driver started the night by posting the ninth fastest lap in qualifying and then went on to finish both of his heat races in fourth and sixth place respectively. For the opening 20-lap feature race, he had started from position seven and was then able to move forward and finish in fifth. The second feature race saw the top-eight finishers from the opening feature race inverted, so he started from position four. In that feature race, he managed to move into the lead early on, but later lost the lead a lap later when he was passed by James McFadden. When McFadden retired from the race around the middles stages of the 20-lap event, Reidy inherited the lead and then went on to lead the remainder of the distance and claim the win.

Reidy’s next appearance is scheduled for this Saturday night (April 18) back at Archerfield Speedway.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Inglis Racing Engines, Mako Sunglasses and Eye C U Security, for their 2014-15 season support.
