Will Power, who won five road/street races last year – including the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg – on the way to a runner-up finish in the IZOD IndyCar Series driver championship, topped the speed chart on the first day of practice for the season-opening Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

A day earlier, Will Power was among numerous IZOD IndyCar Series drivers who relayed their predictions of the “tightest race in series history.” He, of course, was speaking in season-long terms, though individual races definitely are included.

Drama will be intensified at IZOD IndyCar Series races this season with the inclusion of side-by-side restarts at all venues, starting with the season-opening Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 27.

The Firestone Twin 275s at Texas Motor Speedway will be identical in almost every way when the IZOD IndyCar Series race twice in the same day this summer, with one significant exception. Both will pay half the points and half the bonus prizes for the event, but the field for the second race will be set by a blind draw, INDYCAR officials announced today the rules for the June 11 race.
