Hanover, PA — (April 18, 2014) — Brad McClelland showed everyone Friday night why he’s the all-time winner at Trail-Way Speedway, coming from the back to win the season opener for 358 sprint cars.

McClelland scratched from his qualifying event after blowing a motor in warm-ups.  His team returned home to grab a second car, and returned in time for McClelland to tag the rear of the 10-car field for the start of the feature.

It took him just 11 laps to take the lead, sliding under Randy Whisler for the front spot in turn four.

“I want to praise the crew for getting the car ready,” said McClelland in victory lane, “They got it back together just in time.  I don’t know what happened to Robbie (Kendall).  He would have been hard to beat.”

Kendall led the first nine laps from his outside front row starting spot before he dove to the infield with motor problems during a caution flag for Brent Rumberger, who spun into the infield after contact with Matt Campbell on the backstretch.

Whisler assumed the lead for the restart and led one lap before yielding to McClelland.

Once in front, the Don Beard Racing Engines/Rucker Computer Solutions/Littlestown Auto Care drove away from the field to a 5.82-second win over Whisler, with Seth Kearchner, Campbell, and Zach Euculano completing the top five.

Heats for the ten 358 sprinters were won by Kendall and Dwight Leppo.

Next Friday (4/25), Trail-Way will host the 358 Sprint Cars, Limited Stocks, Street Stocks, and 600cc Micro Sprints.  Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
