SYRACUSE, NY (November 6, 2016) – Saturday night November 12th the beautiful Vernon Downs Hotel Casino will host the 33rd Anniversary Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) Awards Banquet. Awaiting the drivers that competed in the 2016 season will be a record payoff which includes over $50,000 in cash.

Steve Poirier notched his seventh ESS championship with a year that could be considered the best ever in the club’s history. On the strength of eight wins and 22 top ten’s out of 22 point shows he bested a solid performance by Jason Barney for the 2016 crown.

Poirier not only won the overall Lucas Oil ESS Title but the NAPA Auto Parts US Tour, the Einstein Construction Group Canada Tour, the SUNY Canton Series, the Fondations 4 Saisons Quebec Tour, the Donath Motorworx CNY Speedweek, Insinger Performance Fuels Hard Charger Points, Northwood 2 Construction Quebec/Ontario Weekend Challenge and the Danny Willmes Enterprises Lap Leader Standings.

The only point standings that Poirier didn’t take home were the Cobra Coaches Dash Series and the 911 Restoration Points which was taken by Parker Evans.

Many other special awards will fill the evenings agenda which include the Lane’s Yamaha Rookie of the Year, the Lucas Oil Outstanding New Comer Award, the Pilat Graphic Design Most Improved Driver, Mach 1 Chassis Hard Luck Award and the Lucas Oil ESS Mechanic of the Year. The annual John Zentner Memorial will be handed out as well.

Drivers and teams that had perfect attendance in 2016 will be recognized as well as all the A-Main winners during the year.

Lance Yonge and Mike VanDusen will be inducted into the 2016 ESS Hall of Fame Class. Both drivers and their families will be on hand in what will be a memorable experience.

The annual Lucky Giveaway Program along with many other awards and prizes will push the overall amount above the $80,000 mark which will be the largest ever for the organization that started in 1983.

The annual rules meeting where race teams get to vote on all possible rule changes that are presented to the membership will precede the banquet. Cocktail hour kicks off at 5:30 followed dinner at 6:30 and the awards ceremony will start promptly at 8:00 PM.

Saturday Night, November 12th is the date, Vernon Downs is the site, the annual awards banquet is the occasion and let’s hand out over $50,000!!! It will be a night to remember and it will be excitement guaranteed!!
