SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A motorsports flea market for any type of racing division will be held at Selinsgrove Speedway from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. The event is being coordinated by the D.H.&L. Fire Company through the Selinsgrove Fair Association, Inc., with all of the proceeds benefiting the fire company.
The speedway will open at 5 a.m. for vendors to setup inside the track. There will be a $15 fee per vendor space. General admission will be free. In the event of inclement weather, the flea market may be relocated to the speedway’s parking lot. For information regarding the flea market, please call (570) 898-7974.
Selinsgrove Speedway & Raceway Park will present the ninth annual Awards Banquet at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel. Banquet tickets can be purchased by calling (570) 374-6270.
The top five point finishers in Raceway Park’s weekly go kart divisions and the top 10 point finishers in the Selinsgrove Ford micro sprint cars will be recognized. For the Selinsgrove Speedway portion of the banquet, drivers in the top 15 positions in the A&A Auto Stores 358 sprint cars and MAPCO Machine Shop late models and top 10 spots in the Salem RV Center pro stocks and Byers Built Engines/Collier Paving & Construction roadrunners will be
recognized.
During the off-season, a number of improvements are in progress for the start of the 2010 season in March at Selinsgrove Speedway & Raceway Park.
Both the one-fifth mile and half-mile ovals are being resurfaced with 16 tri-axle and 60 tri-axle dump truck loads of sifted clay, respectively. Additionally, more than 2,400 feet of steel guardrails have been replaced to date on the half-mile track’s frontstretch and backstretch.
Speedway officials and Selinsgrove Fair Association members are working cooperatively to install new steps and handrails as well as establish a handicap-accessible section in the historic covered grandstand.
