Another action packed coolish night at Simpson Raceway for the Fire Service Plus Sprintcar All Star Series.
#SA75 Colin Brooks, in the Bartletts Auto Centre Cool Chassis lead the race from green to checker. Thanking his car ower and crew for there awesome race car tonight at the Presentation. Our car has been fast all year, and we have been playing wiht shocks etc and tonight it finally all came together.” Car owner Tony Barlett tells us on the infield after the feature, with a grin from ear to ear “ We can now crack that bottle we have been saving for the past few shows – finally!”
Again the flies were there to greet everyone – as is now expected at the little dairy farmers regional track, but then we were also greeted by light rain at the start of the night just to test everyone’s patientence. Fortunately after some additional track work and wheel packing the track came in and provided everyone with a good race track for the night. Contratulation’s must go to all drivers for driving with their heads not their foot early on in the night.
#VIC3 Gavin Taylor made his debut for the season in his beautiful G T Hydraulics Maxim. After major shoulder surgery in the off season Gav is finally back. Gav was involved in a few incidents and his ambition was to compelete one full lap for the feature – he was successful and managed to complete 30 without sustaining any more damage.
Heat 4 bought drivers undone in turns 3 and 4 with Ron Donaldson, Gavin Taylor, Chris Solomon and Shaun Forrell all coming together in the corner. Unfortunately this was the end of the night for Ron Donaldson in the #VIC 29, who must have run over a Chinaman at some point at the start of the season and still seems to be getting the bad luck for it!
Heat 4 was for the girls with Rookie Kate Searle in the Red Ed Sheds, Mainline Dynolog #28 comfortably taking out the heat win. All the girls in the pits and many of the guys were yelling for her to win, and talking about “one for the girls” at the end of the night BBQ. Unfortunately Kate had to pull in the A after 23 laps with no oil pressure.
ACT 8 Shaun Forrell showed his potential in the A with a much nicer handling car and young gun VIC 10 James McDonald also had a much improved drive thru the main.

Heat 1: #SA75 Colin Brooks
