SELINSGROVE, Pa. – This Sunday’s running of NASCAR’s Daytona 500 won’t be
the only special event kicking off the 2010 auto racing season. Selinsgrove
Speedway’s annual dirt track motorsports show at the Susquehanna Valley
Mall in Hummels Wharf also begins this Sunday, Feb. 14, and will run
through Saturday, Feb. 20.
More than 100 race vehicles representing the track’s sprint car, late
model, pro stock, roadrunner, go kart, and micro sprint car divisions will
be on display throughout the week. This year the Dauntless Hook & Ladder
Fire Co., the speedway’s official emergency medical services provider on
race nights, will also have a display featuring the fire company’s
emergency equipment utilized at the track.
The sprint cars driven by Blane Heimbach, Phil Walter, Matt Heimbach, Chuck
Paige, Matt Horst, Duane Mausteller, Tom Wise, Colby Womer, Jessica
Anderson, Ryan Kissinger, Cody Kreamer, Cody Keller, and Marlin Milliken
are scheduled to be on display, along with the late models driven by
defending champion Jeff Rine, Tony Adams, Brett Schadel, Matt Cochran, Gary
Beward, Garret Gray, and Derrick Castner.
Pro stock entries include those driven by Bill Glass, Matt Johnson, and
Jeff Ceballo. The roadrunner division will be represented by race cars
driven by Kyle Miller, Brian Johnson, John Schreffler, and Jeremy Kline.
Selinsgrove Raceway Park will showcase more than 40 go karts and 25 micro
sprint cars at this year’s motorsports show, including defending champion
Todd Hoover and top 2009 point finishers Ken Duke, Jake Hummel, and Tyler
Snook, to name a few.
Season reserved seat tickets will be available for race fans to purchase
Monday through Friday 6:30 p.m. until closing and Saturday 1 p.m. until 7
p.m. The speedway’s season kickoff ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb.
20 at center court in the mall.
Selinsgrove Speedway officials are pleased to announce the 2010 divisional
point fund sponsors for the track’s weekly divisions. A&A Auto Stores, with
a location north of the speedway in Selinsgrove, is returning for the
second consecutive year as the title sponsor of the 358 sprint car
division. Signing on as a first-time sponsor at the track, Lyons Auto &
Truck Service Center of Mifflinburg is the official point fund sponsor of
the late model division this season.
Salem RV Center of Selinsgrove is returning as the title sponsor of the pro
stock division, while Collier Paving & Construction of Shamokin and Byers
Built Engines of Milton are returning as co-sponsors of the roadrunner
point fund in 2010.
For the ninth consecutive year, Selinsgrove Ford will be the official pace
truck sponsor and title sponsor of Selinsgrove Raceway Park’s go kart and
micro sprint car point funds.
Dan Foss of Foss Jewelers in Selinsgrove announced he will continue his
sponsorship of the championship rings that are presented to each of the
divisional track champions at the speedway’s annual awards banquet in
November.
Hoosier Racing Tire, which recently announced an overall 358 sprint car
point fund in central Pennsylvania, signed a three-year contract with
Selinsgrove Speedway to be the official racing tire of the historic Snyder
County oval.
The 2010 season will open the weekend of Friday, March 19 and Saturday,
March 20. Friday night’s program will feature the 358 modifieds at 7:30
p.m. and Saturday night’s show will consist of the third annual Icebreaker
50 for big block modifieds at 4 p.m.
