Crash Brings Lines’ Night to an Early End

By Daniel Powell

It was a premature exit for Steve Lines during last Saturday night’s third round of the Southern Thunder Series at Collie Speedway in Western Australia after he crashed out heavily during his second heat race.

Steering component failure aboard his VIC # 45 H.A. Young Plumbing / Camden Neon Signs supported J&J sent him crashing heavily into the wall and consequently it caused substantial damage that was enough to bring his night to an end.

“The chassis of the car is ok but there was a lot of cosmetic damage as my car just turned hard right after the steering component gave way and I smacked the wall pretty hard,” the current South Australian Title holder explained. “Our team stripped down the car last Sunday after the race meeting ready to re-build the car when we get back over there later in the week and it’s all going to be good to go for the King of Wings.”

Lines at the beginning of the night qualified eighth in time trials and then finished his opening heat race in second place.

This Friday and Saturday night (February 19 and 20) Lines will return to the Perth Motorplex (Kwinana, WA) to contest the annual King of Wings event.
