ASCS Midwest Returns to U.S. 36 on Friday

2010 ascs American Sprint Car Series

From Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (July 12, 2010) – The American Sprint Car Series Midwest Region takes to the ultra-fast high banks of Cameron, Missouri’s U.S. 36 Raceway this Friday night for the second time this season.

And it will be Eric Lutz, a recent series winner at I-90 Speedway in June, trying to take over the ASCS Midwest Region championship points lead during Friday night’s card.

With current ASCS Midwest points leader Jack Dover in the northwest with the Lucas Oil ASCS National forces, three-time ASCS Northern Plains points runner-up Lutz of Sioux Falls, SD, can take over the series points lead with a finish of seventh or better on Friday night.

Even if Lutz falls short of the lead on Friday, ensuing events at Iowa’s Crawford County Speedway on July 21 and then South Dakota’s I-90 Speedway on July 23 will still allow time for Lutz to race into the points lead.

Also looking to climb a notch over the next several events, including Friday’s action at U.S 36 Raceway, is Waverly, Nebraska’s Doug Lovegrove.

Reigning series champion Jason Danley of Lincoln, NE, is currently ranked fourth in points, with rookie shoe Tyler Drueke of Eagle, NE, rounding out the current top five in points.

Brian Brown is up to sixth in ASCS Midwest points after snaring his second series win of the year Sunday night in Albion, NE.

The ASCS Midwest Regional forces will take on the Winged Outlaw Warriors in Friday night’s U.S. 36 Raceway event.

Friday’s racing action atop the high-banked, 3/8-mile U.S. 36 Raceway clay oval is set to fire off at 8:00 p.m.

U.S. 36 Raceway is located 50 miles northeast of Kansas City on I-35 to Exit 54, then 6.3 miles west on U.S. 36, then 0.1 mile north on SR 33. For more information, contact the track at 816-675-2279.

The ASCS Midwest Region is slated for 23 nights of competition in 2010 at ten different tracks throughout Nebraska and the surrounding areas of Missouri, South Dakota and Iowa.
