BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Monday, July 12, 2010 – Summer, seven cities in nine days, fans, camping, friends, stories and good times can only mean one thing in Indiana…..

Dave Matthews Band is coming to town?

The Allmann Brothers Band?

Phish?

Widespread Panic?

The answer is ‘no’ to all of the above.

So what attracts large groups of people to travel all around the state of Indiana for more than a week every July? Indiana Sprint Week!

This is the 23rd year of Indiana Sprint Week, which is the closest thing to a summer concert tour that racing sees each year. And like the performances of the jam bands listed above, fans are guaranteed to see a different show each night.

Friday night’s race at Bloomington Speedway will be race No. 6 of the 2010 Indiana Sprint Week. The famous high banked, ¼-mile red clay oval has played host to an Indiana Sprint Week race for 22 consecutive years.

The biggest stars of non-wing sprint car racing including Levi Jones, Bryan Clauson, Dave Darland, Damion Gardner and Jerry Coons Jr., will mix it up with Bloomington Speedway regulars Brady Short, Dickie Gaines, John Sciscoe, Danny Holtsclaw and Jon Stanbrough. Indiana Sprint Week also brings in cars and drivers from other states including California’s Bud Kaeding.

Sharing Bloomington Speedway Friday night with the sprint cars will be the Midwest Mini Sprint Association.

Spectator gates for Friday’s Indiana Stoneworks Night open at 4:30 p.m., hot laps are at 6:20 with racing beginning at 7:30. General admission is $20 for adults, and kids under 12 are always FREE general admission at Bloomington Speedway with a general admission paying adult.
