19 year-old Jonathan Hendrick, of Fortville Ind., pulled off the Grimes Pools and Spas Sprint Car feature win in fine style by holding off Bloomington Speedway’s usual heavy hitters. Hendrick fought off challenges from defending Bloomington Speedway Track Champion Brady Short, of Bedford Ind., the formidable Jerry Coons Jr., of Tucson Ariz., and the hard charging Jon Sciscoe, of Bloomington Ind. Sciscoe moved his way up to the fourth position after starting the event in the seventeenth position. The race itself came down to the wire as a late race caution created a one lap shootout to the finish between all four drivers with Hendrick getting the top spot on the podium.
The next night of racing at Bloomington Speedway is the Fall Clash on Friday, September, 17. The event will feature the Midwest Sprint Car Series Sprint Cars racing for a huge purse of $5,000, as well as the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Indiana Super Stocks. The grandstands open at 5:30 p.m., hot laps at 6:30 p.m., with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 for adults, and kids 12 and under are always FREE general admission with a paying adult.
