FREMONT, Ohio – Bobby Clark and Bryan Sebetto have won in 410 sprints, 360 sprints and 305 sprints. Both of the Fremont, Ohio natives put that experience to work Sunday in exciting fashion, trading slide job after slide job before Sebetto would claim the 11th Annual Burns Iron & Metal 305 Sprint Invitational at Fremont Speedway.

Sebetto would slide around Clark with two laps to go for the lead when the caution flew for a three car tangle. On the restart Sebetto moved off the bottom of turns one and two and into Clark’s high line to break his momentum and led the final two circuits for his 13th career victory at “The Track That Action Built,” and take home the $2,500 top prize.

“That was fun. The first slider I pulled on him for the lead it was pretty close and he pulled up next to me and said ‘hey make it a little cleaner next time.’ I said ‘I’m sorry dude, I’m sorry.’ It’s fun racing with Bobby…he runs me clean and I run him clean. He’s one of the best out here in my opinion in the 305 division. I’ve been trying to win this race for so many years and this is the only race I’ve never won in the 305s,” said Sebetto who owns two 410 sprint wins at Fremont in 2010.

“There’s so many people that stand behind us in this Burmeister Racing team. I have to thank Sonny and Sharon (Burmeister), Rollie and Rodney and Mikey and all the kids and their wives. I have to thank Steve Mapus Tools, R&R Auto Wrecking, Gary’s Barbershop, Burns Petroleum, Party Lite Candles, Schiets Motorsports and JLH General Contractors,” added Sebetto. “I have to thank Gressman Powersports slash Ferrells on the 305 deal…Al Ferrell gave us the motor to run…if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t even be out here.”

Fresh off a win Saturday at Attica Raceway Park and the track’s season championship, Bellevue, Ohio’s Ryan Missler led the final 22 laps of the late model feature to score his second victory of the season at Fremont.

“I started on the front row for both of the races here this year and usually if I start up front if I don’t win I’m disappointed in myself. The track was a little bumpy and my car was a handful…it wasn’t the greatest. I almost ran over that car that spun out in turn four. Hats off to all my guys who have worked on this car all year…they do a good job,” said Missler of his fourth career Fremont victory beside his Taze D.J. Services, Terry McConnell Excavating, Level Performance, York Fabrications backed #50Y.

The Fremont Fence Dirt Truck feature came down to the final two turns on the final lap with Jimmy McGrath Jr. using a lapped machine as a pick to drive under race-long leader Dan Hennig to take his fifth win of the season by two feet.

“I didn’t plan to cut to the bottom on that last lap in turn three, but I saw the lapped trucks and made a last second decision and it paid off,” said McGrath on his third straight win.

“Dan is a good, clean racer and it’s so much fun to race against someone like that,” added McGrath beside his J&F Miller Farms, Tower Driving Academy, Winesburg Barbecue, B&K Auto Service backed #5jr.

Third place starting Bobby Clark would drive around both Josh Muntz and Sebetto to take the lead at the drop of the green for the 30-lap 305 sprint feature. Sebetto would steal second from Muntz on lap two and begin to hunt down Clark with Muntz, Paige Polyak, Stuart Brubaker and Jake Trevino fighting for third.

Sebetto would execute a slide job in turns three and four on lap eight, banging wheels with Clark for the lead. The first caution would fly on lap 13 for Zack Kramer and Brubaker with the running order Sebetto, Clark, Muntz, Polyak, Trevino and Matt Ferrell. On the restart, Ferrell would spin in turn two, collecting Ivy who tipped over.

Sebetto and Clark would pull away on the ensuing restart as they ran nose to tail over the next three laps before the caution would fly when Polyak and Trevino spun. This time on the restart, Clark would return the slide job on Sebetto in turn four to take the lead with Muntz and 15th place starter Dustin Dinan in tow. On the restart Dinan would grab third with Muntz and 17th place starter Paul Weaver rounding out the top five.

Kramer would spin on lap 20, bunching up the field with Clark leading Sebetto, Dinan, Muntz, Weaver and Jimmy Colvin. Again on the restart Clark and Sebetto would pull away while Weaver would drive into third on lap 23, moving Dinan to fourth and Muntz and Colvin in tow.

Clark would continue to lead with Sebetto running right in his tire tracks. With two laps to go Sebetto executed his winning move with a slide job in turns three and four. Alvin Roepke, D.J. Foos and Steve Rando would tangle exiting turn two to bring out the final caution and set up an exciting two lap dash to the finish. Sebetto would drive to the outside of turns one and two on the restart, breaking Clark’s momentum and driving off to the win.

“I felt good on the bottom of turns one and two so I stayed down there but I knew them last two laps I had to go to the top because Bobby was pretty good up there and I knew if I didn’t take that line from him he was going to buzz around me if I went back to the bottom,” said Sebetto of the late race restart.

In the 25-lap late model feature, Bill Hahn grabbed the early lead over Missler, John Bores, Ryan Markham and Josh Scott. Missler and Markham would both drive around Hahn on lap four with Larry Kingseed moving into third from his 9th starting spot on lap five. The caution would fly on lap six for a Jason Stancil spin just as Markham began to challenge Missler for the lead. A lap and another caution for a Bill Clapp Jr. spin, with Markham going pit side to make a tire change and rejoining on the tail.

On the restart the running order was now Missler, Kingseed, Scott, Hahn, Jeremy Canada and John Bores. Two laps and another caution when Bores’ machine broke and coasted to a stop. Missler would pull away on the restart with Kingseed comfortably in second while Scott, Canada and 11th place starter Mike Bores battling for third.

On lap 14 the caution would fly for the final time for a Stancil spin with Missler leading Kingseed, Scott, Bores, Canada and Markham from the tail. That running order would remain until the 19th circuit when Bores would grab third and Markham taking fourth a lap later. Missler would catch the back of the pack with three laps remaining, but picked his way through and would go on to the win over Kingseed, Bores, Markham and Canada.

After two quick cautions to start the 20-lap truck race, Art Howey Jr. would lead the first lap over Steve Sabo, Dan Hennig, Steve Endicott, McGrath Jr. and Paul Brown Jr. Hennig would drive into the lead a lap later as Sabo continued to run second and Howey dropping back to third. McGrath Jr. would take third on lap three as the caution flew for a tangle involving John Ivy, Andy Keegan and Stacey Gazarek.

On the restart Hennig, Sabo and McGrath Jr. waged a tremendous battle for the lead. Hennig would drive the top side of the track to perfection and continued to lead while McGrath ran on his rear bumper and Sabo would race to their inside. Hennig and McGrath would pull away slightly from Sabo as they literally raced bumper to bumper from lap 9 to the end.

Several times McGrath would poke the nose of his truck under Hennig, but could not make the pass. As the two took the white flag and raced down the back stretch they caught the rear of the field where several trucks were racing side by side. Entering turn three, Hennig chose to stay up top while McGrath turned to the bottom. A lapped machine held up Hennig’s momentum slightly and McGrath was able to race to his inside as they ran door to door down the front stretch to the checkers. McGrath would win by a fender over Hennig, Sabo, McGrath Sr. and Howey Jr.

Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 11 on the Kistler Racing Products/JLH General Contractors Season Championship Night when the track titles for the 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks will be decided. It also marks the championship night for the Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title (FAST) Championship series for the 410 sprints and the FAST championship presented by Kear’s Speed Shop and Cleveland Golf for the 305 sprints. The FAST champions are separate point systems and point funds based on select races held at both Fremont Speedway and Attica Raceway Park.
