Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway is next up for the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car series and defending two-time champion Mike Spencer continues his drive toward an unprecedented third series title.
Spencer finished third in both “Louie Vermeil Classic” feature events this past weekend at the Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga, Calif. to extend his lead over Danny Sheridan to 163 points.
Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. wheeled the Tiner Racing entry to victory in Saturday night’s 20-lapper at Calistoga. Gardner trailed Sheridan for 16 laps, then led the rest of the way to beat Sheridan, Spencer, Keith Bloom and Robert Ballou. Blake Miller was Saturday’s fastest qualifier.
Gardner completed the “sweep” of this year’s “Louie Vermeil Classic” Sprint races at Calistoga Sunday night, leading all 30 laps in his Tiner Racing mount. He was trailed at the checkered flag by Daron Clayton, fast qualifier Spencer, Kyle Larson and Miller.
