Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Nov. 20 – Driver champion Mike Hess and car owner Jerry Hardy headlined the list of honorees at the annual Badger Midget Auto Racing Association awards banquet Saturday Night at the Kalahari Convention Center & Water Park. The event brought the curtain down on the 74th anniversary season for the series.
It marked the second Badger Champion for Hess and Hardy in the last three years. Hess finished off the final eight feature events of the season with eight top-three finishes. Ten drivers scored feature victories in the 14-event season, led by Hess’ three victories. Hess and Hardy also took home the lion share of the point fund and contingency awards.
Other award winners included: Eric Johnson (Most Improved Driver), John Callahan (Mechanic of the Year), Scott Hatton (Hoosier Hard Charger), Daniel Robinson (Terry Vaughn Award), Jim Watson (Pat Stender Award), BMARA Fan Club (Kevin Doty Award), Roger Corrigan (Media Award), Mid-State Equipment and Beaver Dam Raceway (Appreciation Awards), Jerry Hardy (Best Appearing Car), and Imhoff-Davis Racing (Best Dressed Crew).
Spike (chassis), and Hawk-Chevrolet (engine) won the Badger Midget Manufacturers Championship awards. The 2010 season schedule will be released in late-December/early-January .
