TULSA, Okla. (April 11, 2011) – After getting washed out this past weekend, the Sunoco Fuel ASCS Canyon Region fires right back to action this Saturday night by shifting southward to Tucson’s USA Raceway.
Saturday’s card will mark the second stop of the year for the wingless forces of the ASCS Canyon Region atop the 3/8-mile USA Raceway clay oval after R.J. Johnson won the March 12 season opener.
While Johnson won the opener, two-time series champion Jeremy Sherman moved atop the early season point charts with his 29th career ASCS Canyon Region win in 2011 Round Two at Canyon Speedway Park on March 26. Sherman finished second in the season opener at USA and holds a 26-point advantage over Johnson, who finished eighth in the March 26 CSP go.
Two-time and defending series champion Charles Davis, Jr., looking for his first win of the year, is just another six points back in third with Ronnie Clark and Anrdrew Reinbold rounding out the current top five. The balance of the current top ten in points includes Bob Ream, Jr., Matt Rossi, Thomas Ogle, Dalten Gabbard and Nathan High.
Saturday’s racing action at USA Raceway goes green at 6:45 p.m.
The 3/8-mile USA Raceway clay oval is located east of Tucson off I-10 Exit 268, then 1.6 mile south on Craycroft Road, which turns into Los Reales. For more information, contact the track at 520-574-8515.
The Sunoco Fuel ASCS Canyon Region brings the best of wingless Sprint Car racing action to fans in Arizona with 19 scheduled nights of competition at Tucson’s USA Raceway and Peoria’s Canyon Speedway Park.
The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
