Atlanta, GA – April 13, 2011 – Top rated female sprint car driver Erin Crocker Evernham from Mooresville, North Carolina and her accomplished racer, NASCAR crew chief and TV analyst husband, Ray Evernham have both entered this weekend’s United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear winged sprint car double-header events at Carolina Speedway on Friday night April 15th and at Travelers Rest Speedway on Saturday, April 16th as competitors. “This weekend will be a “first-ever” for the USCS presented by Goodyear to have a husband and wife team race against one another in our series on the same night for sure” stated series Founder, Pete Walton.
Erin Crocker is always a threat to win in sprint cars and has to be considered one of the favorites to land in the www.RockAuto.com USCS victory lane at Carolina Speedway or Travelers rest Speedway. Crocker (Evernham) has competed in World of Outlaw sprint cars, NASCAR and ARCA series . Erin Crocker was the first female sprint car driver to ever qualify for the famed Knoxville Nationals, was named as the year 2003 Winged 410 cubic inch sprint car Rookie of the Year by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. Erin Crocker (Evernham) is the only female driver to ever win a World of Outlaws winged sprint car race. In Crocker’s last USCS entry she finished in third place in the USCS Carolina Thunder Nationals Finale on October 2, 2010 at Carolina Speedway.
Adding star power to the event and surely turning-up the competitive fires at home, Ray Evernham from Mooresville, North Carolina will be making his 360 cubic inch winged sprint car career-debut at Carolina Speedway on Friday night. Evernham is an accomplished and well-known NASCAR crew chief who won three NASCAR Sprint Cup titles with Jeff Gordon at Hendrick Motorsports. Evernham has been frequently a motorsports TV analyst and is currently a consultant for Hendrick Motorsports. He is also an accomplished Modified racer. He also owns and manages Evernham Enterprises that includes being wife Erin’s car–owner and sprint car team manger.
Both drivers have also pre-entered the both halves of the weekend USCS double-header at Carolina Speedway on Friday and for Saturday’s “RAD (Race Against Drugs) Night at the Races” at Travelers Rest Speedway in Travelers Rest, South Carolina on Saturday night.
