TULSA, Okla. (May 9, 2011) – Jeremy Sherman will try to carry on his early season Sunoco Fuel ASCS Canyon Region momentum when the series takes to Tucson’s 3/8-mile USA Raceway clay oval this Saturday night.
After posting just two wins over the previous two years, the two-time ASCS Canyon Region champion hailing from Surprise, AZ, has burst out of the gates with three wins in the initial five events of the season along with a pair of runner-up finishes the other two times out.
Extending his career ASCS Canyon win total to 31, Sherman has opened up a 90-point advantage in the series championship chase over two-time and defending champion Charles Davis, Jr., who is still looking for his first win of the year after picking off six triumphs last year.
Davis, Jr., is just eight points ahead of R.J. Johnson, who topped the ASCS Canyon season opener at USA Raceway in March, with Andrew Reinbold and Ronnie Clark rounding out the current top five in points.
The balance of the current top ten includes Matt Rossi, Josh Pelkey, Dalten Gabbard, Bob Ream, Jr., and Bruce St. James.
Saturday’s racing action at USA Raceway goes green at 6:45 p.m.
