Brett Miller runs second at Silver Dollar Speedway “Open 360 Showdown”

Chico, CA – July 24, 2011…Momentum is always a key thing in racing and Chico’s Brett Miller has certainly built it up over the last month. Fresh off a victory the previous week Miller proceeded to back that up with a close second place finish this past Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway’s “Open 360 Showdown.”

The victory two Friday’s ago marked Miller’s fifth career 410 sprint car triumph and very first since teaming up with Coors Light & Brian Cannon Motorsports in the off-season.

The win was also sweet redemption for Miller, who had led much of the main event on July 4 at SDS, only to lose the lead late in the race to Sacramento’s Mile Henry and have to settle for a second place finish that night.

“We’ve been close all season long and to finally get our first win is awesome,” said Miller after his victory on July 15. “People told me I had a monkey on my back all year so this week I was in Disneyland and I decided to buy this Chewbacca stuffed animal. It’s here with me in victory lane so I may just have it with me all the time now.”

The recently turned 22-year-old driver got the jump on the field as the green flag waved on Friday July 15 and quickly built up a sizeable lead.

Miller was able to make some tremendous, yet calculated moves when dealing with lapped traffic and never gave the rest of the field a chance to close in. At the checkered flag Miller held a nearly three-second advantage over Tim Kaeding & Andy Forsberg, who finished second and third.

The Chico wheel-man then entered the Silver Dollar Speedway this most recent Friday hoping to make it back-to-back wins with a special open 360 sprint car show on tap. Miller would open the night by timing in second fastest out of 22-cars aboard the Care Free Pools, Coors Light, Autism Awareness No. 1x machine.

Starting from the second row Miller settled into third when the race got underway, before shooting into second past Dan Menne on lap 15.

He then quickly cut down a near straightaway lead that Andy Forsberg had developed and got to the inside of him at one point, but couldn’t quite make it stick. Miller then had to hold off a fast moving Sean Becker over the last few laps, which he was able to do and claimed a runner up finish at the stripe.

Miller will now head next for the two-night “ASCS Bullring Nationals” at the Placerville Speedway this coming Friday and Saturday. So far this year he has driven the Care Free Pools, Brian Cannon Motorsports, 103.5 the Blaze No. 1x Maxim to a pair of runner up finishes at the high-banked red clay quarter-mile.

“Placerville was always a track that was a challenge for us in the past, but this year we have been pretty fast there so I’m looking forward to next weekend,” said Miller. “There should be a lot of great cars for the ASCS show so it will be a challenge, but we are excited to see where we stack up. I really have to thank my whole team for giving me such a great car this season.”
