ANDERSON, Ind. (September 15, 2011) – Anderson Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday, September 17 with the H.O.S.S. Winged Sprints, EDCO Welding CRA Street Stocks, Figure 8’s, WMDH ThunderCars and Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s on the high-banked quarter-mile oval.

Joe Swanson sits atop the H.O.S.S. Winged Sprint Cars season point standings heading into this weekend’s event at Anderson. Swanson holds an 18 point lead over Aaron Pierce with Tim Cox ranked in third position. The remainder of the top five includes Jason Cox and Sam Davis. Recent winners this season include Jimmy McCune (Plymouth, Angola), Aaron Pierce (Baer Field) and Geoff Kaiser (Illiana).

The EDCO Welding CRA Street Stocks will compete in their 12th event of the season and fifth series event held at Anderson Speedway. Former series Champion Rich Boyer and Josh Poore are tied for the most series wins at Anderson with three a piece, Jason Thompson and Ronnie Rose have two. Rose was the series latest winner at Anderson on August 20th. Thompson, Poore and Brian Hopkins have also picked up series wins at Anderson this season. Anderson regular Josh Myers got his first ever series victory at the series last event on Labor Day Weekend at Winchester Speedway.

CRA veteran racer Jeff Lane is the point’s leader in the EDCO Welding CRA Street Stocks heading into Saturday night’s event. Lane holds a commanding 112 point lead over Poore for veteran car owner Danny Acrey. Lane has two wins on the season and has been the Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier in eight events so far this season. The Steve Davis owned number 21 car is third in points with most recent driver Ryan Amonett. Hopkins is in fourth in points, despite missing one series event this season. Leading series Rookie J.J. Schafer is currently in fifth place.

Josh Poore is the current leader in the Anderson Speedway EDCO Welding Street Stocks points heading into Saturday night’s event, which is a points race for that division. Myers is in second place, 111 points behind Poore. Rob Allman is third, Randy Hoppes is fourth and Frankie Oakes is in fifth place.

In the Figure 8 point standings, Curtis Chapman leads the division with Josh Tharp still close as the season winds down. The remainder of the top five includes Jeff Swinford, James Peterson and Bruce McFall.

Hannah Lundy continues to pace the WMDH ThunderCars division with Lonny Burton in the runner-up position. Rob Allman ranks third with Rob Noel and Ronnie Rose completing the top five.

Chris Teepe ranks first in the Front Wheel Drive Figure 8 standings with most recent feature winner Elliott McKinney in second spot. Multiple feature winner Donnie Ellis Jr. is third with Trevin Henson and Harry LaShure filling out the top five.

On Saturday, spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
