The Big Guy, Troy Hennig & more on “KWS Tonight” this Thursday

2011 King of the West Golden State Sprint Car Series

By Gary Thomas

A special extended edition of “KWS Tonight” will be presented this Thursday with a recap of the 26th Cotton Classic, as well as interviews with fan favorite and former California Golden State 410 champion Jason Statler and the voice of the King of the West Sprints Mr. Troy Hennig.

Gary Thomas & George Hague will put a cap on a great championship night this past weekend that saw a large crowd pack into the Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway. We will also showcase highlights from the King of the West Sprints portion of evening, which saw Jonathan Allard bring home the big money and scoop up his fourth win of the season.

Tune in for some special information regarding next year with the Golden State King of the West 410 Series, along with other tidbits and thanks to all of the people who made this season possible. It was a total partnership to make everything happen and we are looking forward to 2012.

Statler will call-in and discuss his season that concluded with him wrapping up the fifth spot in the KWS standings last weekend. “The Big Guy” ranks 12th on the all-time Golden State 410 win list, sitting in a tie with Bud Kaeding, having scored eight career victories with the tour. Statler is also a former champion of the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial & a World of Outlaw winner at the Santa Maria Speedway in 1999.

Media personality Bobby Gerould once said of Statler:

“Jason Statler, the 2004 Golden State Challenge “King of California”, is a driver I admire for his tenacity, and toughness. The large pro-football size man is a prime example of what a racer can become if he sticks with it. I’ve seen Jason upside down and on-fire. I’ve seen his knees bend cockpits. But I’ve never seen Jason Statler quit. His desire to achieve success in his racing endeavors propelled him to improve steadily over a period of years. He also happens to be a cool guy that is friendly with fans.”

Hennig will then phone-in and give his thoughts on the season, in what was his first full year of traveling with the Golden State KWS 410 Sprint Cars. One of the best looking announcers in the business will speak about who he’d like to see run with the King of the West Series next year, what his favorite new track was this season and what moments highlighted the campaign in 2011 for him.
