Disappointment Overshadows Promising Night

By Daniel Powell

Despite showing plenty of pace throughout the third round of the KRE Sprintcar Series last Saturday night at Archerfield Speedway, Danny Reidy failed to come away with a feature race result.

Leading up to the feature race Reidy was in front running form, after he had qualified second in time trials, followed by top four finishes in his two heat races and then a third place in the top six dash. However, in the feature race, a mistake by Reidy on the fourth lap resulted in him spinning out while placed third and he was sent to the rear of the field on the restart. As he attempted to work his way back from the rear of the field, Reidy was forced to retire to the infield three laps from the finish.

“It was my mistake, as the track was going away and I was caught out and consequently spun out,” explained the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs supported Eagle driver. “On the restart everyone was running the low line, so I ventured up on the high line, but then my car started to overheat and I decided to play it safe and pull to the infield.”

Although it wasn’t a pleasing finish to what was a promising night, Reidy and his team are confident of turning things around.

“We are not hitting our marks at this early stage of the season,” commented Reidy, who didn’t contest the Goondiwindi 400 off road race meeting that was to be held the previous weekend, due to it being cancelled because of wet weather. “I’m confident that we can turn it out and start bringing home some good results.”

Reidy and the team will have this coming weekend off, before they return trackside on Saturday night, November 5 at Archerfield Speedway for the fourth round of the KRE Series.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Camden Neon Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their ongoing support throughout the 2011/12 season.
