WATSONVILLE, CALIFORNIA (May 1, 2012) – Campbell’s Bud Kaeding will climb back aboard the Werbach Motorsports #20 on Friday night when the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo continue their 2012 season with their second points race of the year. Kaeding leads the series after getting the victory in the season opener back on March 31.

After a rain out of the April 13 event, the Ocean Sprints competitors are gearing up for a busy stretch where the series will compete for three consecutive Friday nights in May and race four times in June as well.

A total of seven drivers are within ten points of series points leader Kaeding including Auburn’s Andy Forsberg and 2011 series champion Ronnie Day of Salinas. Day, driving the Keith Day Trucking #22 car, finished second in the season opening main event.

Also in striking distance are San Martin’s “Cowboy” Craig Smith in the #39, Stockton’s Brad Furr, “Sugar” Shane Golobic of Fremont in the Steve Osborne #9j, and San Jose’s Nick Green in the All Weld #14 mount.

Golobic is fresh off of a fourth place finish with the Cancen Oil King of the West Sprints at Placerville Speedway after running as high as second in the event.

Other series regulars expected on Friday night include local favorites Kurt Nelson of Gilroy, San Jose’s Ryan Rusconi, Gilroy’s Tommy Laliberte, and Salinas drivers Jason Chisum, Jeremy Chisum, Carter Train, and Orval Zane Burke, Jr.

Joining this talented group of series regulars on Friday night will be the return of the Ringo family with Nick Ringo, Jr. and his nephew Nick Ringo III. Both drivers hail from Morgan Hill with the younger Ringo, age 20, driving the Ringo Property Services #3T. Ringo, Jr. will drive the Lana Industries #4S.

Friday’s races for the Ocean Sprints will also include racing for the American Stocks, Dwarf cars, Sport Mods, and Wingless Sprints. Adult tickets are just $17 with seniors 65+ $15 and kids ages 6-12 are $13. The family pass for two adults and two children is value priced at just $55.
