PEORIA, Ariz. (May 8, 2012) – Canyon Speedway Park swings back into action this Saturday night with the Second Annual Mother’s Day Race for the Cure benefitting the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Headlining the big night of racing action will be the CSP Challenge Cup Sprint Cars and the IMCA Modifieds, which will be racing for a boosted winner’s share of $750. Also in action will be the Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Bombers.

An open practice session on Wednesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. will precede Saturday night’s racing action, which goes green at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday’s tilt will mark the second outing of the year for the Challenge Cup Sprint Cars at Canyon Speedway Park after Matt Lundy beat Johnny Shelton, Jr., and Jesse Turner to the line on April 7.

The Challenge Cup Sprint Cars will see a new face in action this weekend, as Pure Stock shoe Matt Martinez makes his Sprint Car debut after topping the Pure Stock main event that accompanied the April 7 event.

With three winners in as many events thus far in IMCA Modified action at Canyon Speedway Park in 2012, Jason Noll is out to a slim lead of four points over Anthony Madrid, with Cody Center, Steve Stultz and Clifton Maggard rounding out the current top five. Noll topped the March 3 feature, with D.J. Wood and Tim Ward also claiming feature wins. Wood captured the most recent feature event on April 7.

The Pure Stocks take to the 1/3-mile clay oval for the third time this year with Brandon Parker atop the point charts ahead of Steve Bittner and Jeff Carter. Parker and Martinez have taken checkered flags in the Pure Stocks thus far in 2012.

John Romero beat Daniel Romero and Paul Foote to the line in the only previous Bomber outing this season, while Greg Loper bested Pat Hennesey and Brian Stehr in the previous Dwarf Car event.
