Following a red-hot start to the month on June, Jonathan Allard has struggled the last two weeks as a mid race spin put the Chico, CA driver
Winning the second heat, JA put his Williams Motorsports machine in the Dash, which he won, and put himself in prime position for the feature event, and a chance to extend his point lead.
Allard took early command of the race on the ultra slick, high-banked, ¼ mile facility until the caution flag waved on lap four.
Once restarted, Allard took the lead, again, but it was short lived, as a charging Kyle Hirst used a monster run down the backstretch to grab the point from JA on lap five, and JA fell back to second.
Once in second, JA began to press as he fell back to third on the 12th lap, before being passed by Brent Kaeding on the 13th lap for the fourth spot.
Once in fourth Allard tried to get back by ‘BK’ the next lap, but simply lost the handle on his machine and spun to a stop.
Allard was forced to tag the rear of the field, and worked his way back to a 14th place finish over the final 18 laps.
“I just got a little anxious after I dropped back to fourth, and hurt the team tonight,” said a disappointed Allard. “We didn’t have the best car, but I think we could of ran top-five for sure, but I just made a bonehead move.”
ON TAP: Allard and the Williams Motorsports team will head to the Ocean Speedway Watsonville on July 7th for the 2nd Annual Howard Kaeding Classic.
