Stewart, OH — (August 17, 2012) — A cool night, fast track and a pit full of hard chargers set the stage for a wild program in all three divisions Friday night Aug. 17 at Skyline Speedway. Nathan Skaggs, Chillicothe, OH claimed his second career win in the OVSCA 410 winged sprints.
Jimmy Stinson started on the pole and led the first ten laps in the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association A-main, but for a time Nathan Skaggs began to reel him in. Stinson made a bonsai move past three lapped cars that separated him by ten car lengths until Jeff Conrad brought out the caution on lap 11.
On the restart Stinson again blasted into the lead and started to pull away. Nathan Skaggs worked the middle groove then found the low side to his liking. The bottom rider was on a rail. Skaggs reeled in Stinson and made the race-winning pass on lap 16. Three laps later, however, Greg Mitchell jumped the cushion and flipped end for end through turn two. Mitchell was winded after the spill, but emerged only shaken. At the same time under the red, Stinson’s mount ground to a halt with suspension damage, ending a bid for owner Billy Jarrell to win six straight OVSCA features.
When the race resumed Skaggs was briefly challenged by charging Josh Davis, but Skaggs had too much bite on the bottom and brought home the win. Rounding out the line-up were Nathan Skaggs, Josh Davis, Dave Dickson, Jesse McCreary, Brian Benson, Bob Tucker, Eddie Miller, Jimmy Stinson, Greg Mitchell, Jeff Conrad, and Nick Forcum. Dave Dickson was the hard charger of the race moving up five spots and Bob Tucker moved up four.
