Just as he closed out the Northwest swing with the World of Outlaws, Jonathan Allard closed out the California Speedweek with a third place finish at the Antioch Speedway following a crash in Calistoga and a sixth place finish at the Gold Cup Race of Champions.

Monday night in Antioch, JA was on a terror after pulling down his Knoxville Nationals car following a wreck in Calistoga, CA.

Timing in the potent Williams Motorsports No.0 machine fifth fastest, JA proceeded to score a fourth place finish in the second heat race, putting him on the front row of the dash.

Scoring a second place finish in the dash, JA noticed an issues with his radiator and the ‘Zero Heroes’ went to work to fix the problem to get JA dialed in for the feature event.

Starting on the outside front row with current World of Outlaw championship points leader, JA rocketed to an early lead as he scaled the tip-top of the race track setting a torrid pace.

Being slowed a few times for an assortment of accidents, JA was unable to shake off Schatz who continued to challenge for the point. On the 28th lap, the caution waved setting up a green, white, checkered finish- a restart that JA wishes he could have back.

Spinning his tires out of four, JA slipped back to the third spot as Schatz and Tim Kaeding snuck by. JA wouldn’t be able to get back to the front and ended his night in the third spot.

“I just hate it for my guys,” said a disappointed Allard. “We had a great car, and I just made a mistake on that last restart and cost this team an outlaw win.”

After an up and down two night’s of preliminary action at the Gold Cup, Allard found himself starting in the 13th spot for the 40-lap championship finale. On what was a tricky track at first, JA would ride out the early storm and let the track come to him as he was able to work up to a sixth place finish at his home track.

“Gold Cup was interesting,” said Allard. “We had an issue on Thursday night that really set us back, but we rebounded nicely and came back with a sixth place finish on the final night.”

ON TAP: JA and the Williams Motorsports team will now see what races are in the area and decide where to run before their KWS season finale on October 13th.
